I know it's been a while since I've posted a movie or TV show review. Sorry about that. I have been watching a LOT of Kdramas lately. LOL.
As for new movies, it's been a bit of a dry spell for me. Nothing at the theater I really wanted to see, until this came out.
The trailer pretty much spoiled a lot of this movie, which is why I don't watch them. But I did have to hear them, so that's how I knew what was going on with ol Abigail right here.
Anyone who knows even a little bit about me, knows I LOVES me some VAMPIRES. But not everyone does them justice. I'm very picky when it comes to my bloodsuckers. I prefer them as the protagonist, who aren't being hunted by Van Helsing's stanking ass. (Save Helsing, because they have Alucard, but anyway...) I love them being just wicked in their excellence and power. But if you want to make them villains, I'm good with that too, if you do it right. (Like Helsing)
No whiney vamps, please. They can go fuck themselves. But you give me those who revel in their existence and I'm. Here. For. It. Abigail was one such vampire and it made for a pretty entertaining movie.
Did it have its typical horror movie characters? Yeah. Was it a little predictable? Yes and no. Was it gory? OH Yeah... thank God for a rated R vampire flick. There is blood, ppl. There is violence. Hollywood has given us so many PG-13 vampire flicks that play it safe and boring, this movie was a breath of fresh air.
I had an entertaining time watching this film, and will check it out again once it comes to streaming.
FINAL VERDICT: INNOCENT LIKE A BALLARINA DANCING TO SWAN LAKE. Movie, you struck your fangs into my flesh and drained the boredom out of me that I had with recent vampire flicks. You gave me a new life. And that little cameo at the end got a chuckle out of me. You're free to go and convert all of the vampire fans out there looking for something good to sink their teeth into. (Yes, I know... I'm full of vampire puns, it's me. what did you expect?) Bailiff, set this movie free, but be careful... it's dangerous.
