I saw the first dungeons and dragons movie in 2000 and was bored out of my mind. It wasted ppl's time. nothing was funny. it played the same lame ass tropes. it was just lazy and unoriginal from beginning to end.
But I'm happy to say I think the curse is broken. This movie was just a lot of fun. I laughed my ass off and the humor, a lot of it is sneaky clever. you have to be listening to catch it.
Some of the jokes are just softly spoken one liners, but they hit.
This was better than Shazam, both of them. Now, that's not to say that there wasn't some tropes in there that you've seen before many times. And it's obvious from the beginning who's going to betray who. But it takes nothing away from the story. I still found the plot and characters entertaining. I enjoyed the magical elements and all of the supernatural creatures. Some of which I hadn't seen before.
And can I just say that this motherfucker is too damn fine. It should be illegal to look this damn good. LOOK AT HIM:
I mean, he's really out here in these thirst trap streets looking like this?!
Anyway, I digress,
I did love the action scenes, if you know me, you know that's the way to my heart. and there was a good amount in this movie but not so much where you feel like it's overboard.
Honestly, I can go see it again. This movie and John Wick are the first two movies of 2023 that I'd be willing to see again in theaters.
FINAL VERDICT: INNOCENT LIKE MY PUP WHO JUST SHREDDED A $10 TOY. He can thank my awesome readers for that one. And can we PLEASE have so many more movies with Regé-Jean Page in them. Hollywood, snap to it. Bailiff, this movie is free to go. And movie, if you see that other motherfucker from 2000 on the street, you have my permission to punch it in the face as hard as you can. use brass knuckles, too.
I loved it! My BiL worked on the movie, so we all went to see it on Friday. It's great fun, amusing, entertaining. I love Regè-Jean *swoon*. I want a Hither-Thither stick 🤣 I hope they'll make more ❤️
Anything that has regè-jean Page and Christopher Pine, I'm all in!
